If the issue is software installation, drivers, or some other software-related issue, we will work on it. Most of these are short problems, so the machine does not stay in the DC for very long. Borrowing

We do not loan anything to students. This includes dongles, chargers, computers, etc. If anyone has any questions please direct them to Gavin or Rae.

Operating Systems

Reinstalling the OS is a last resort option.

Steps to take when thinking about reinstalling an OS

  1. Ask user for permission to wipe the drive
  2. Ask user for their product key (If they don't have it we can not reinstall the OS)
  3. Ask Gavin to make sure there are no other options

Backups

Ask the students if there is any particular folder/files that they need backed up. Try to avoid backing up a students entire computer unless it is necessary. Let the student know we erase all backups after 1 month

Signs, Key, and Locking

Anytime you leave the DC unattended (no other student worker in the room) shut the door. Do not leave students who are not workers alone in the space.
